I believe effective treatment happens when a person feels they are understood. It is my goal to understand your unique experience from a strengths perspective. I am a strengths-based Vermont psychotherapist working with individuals, couples, and groups. My approach is strengths based and trauma informed. Many factors can affect daily life with symptoms like depression, anxiety, substance and relationship issues and more. I use cognitive behavioral and narrative approaches, and enjoy incorporating music, art, and humor in therapy.
Professional experience includes working with the Vermont Association of Mental Health and Addiction Recovery, providing training on motivational interviewing, group facilitation, and compassion fatigue associated with secondary trauma. I've also advocated at the Vermont Statehouse, testifying before various legislators and the Department of Corrections Committee on mental health issues, and funding for needed services.
I received my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Johnson State College in May 2015. I am a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (W.R.A.P.)-certified facilitator and Vermont Certified Recovery Coach.
